The tutoring services program offers adults free, confidential, one-on-one instruction in basic reading and literacy, communication skills for English as a Second Language (ESL) students, and preparation for the HiSET® exam.
Our tutoring program is currently FULL and registration has closed. Registration will open again on October 15th, 2024. Please note that there are only limited spots available.
Who We Serve
Tutoring is available for students who are over 18 and need help in one subject area. Students must be currently enrolled in other ALC classes or live in the Nashua region (Amherst, Brookline, Greenfield, Greenville, Hollis, Hudson, Litchfield, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Nashua, New Ipswich, Temple or Wilton).

Become a Tutor
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- No previous teaching experience is necessary.
- Training, materials, and ongoing support are provided by the Coordinator.
- You may tutor 1 – 2 hours per week (flexible schedule).
- Commit to working with a student for at least 9 months.
- Tutoring sessions are scheduled at mutually convenient times and locations.
- Tutoring is a rewarding experience that helps adult learners achieve their personal goals.
Program Highlights
Tutors and students generally meet 1 – 2 hours per week
Students are required to attend lessons regularly and complete assignments
